Thanks to my involvement with the Open Stage project, I receive a fair amount of email from YouTube. At first my “penpal” was somewhat aloof and stuck only to professional topics; notifying me about the odd channel subscription or comment on our ever-evolving online video archive. Over time, our relationship has truly blossomed, and now YouTube speaks pretty openly about its feelings. In point of fact, we seem to be having a bit of a tiff at the moment. The … Continue reading

I am a bad drummer. Some of you might have heard me say this before, but for those that haven’t, I’ll say it again: I am a bad drummer. Getting my left and right hands to work in any type of coordination is akin to negotiating peace talks in the Middle East. Meanwhile, when the time comes to tap that kick drum, I find that my foot has gone off on its own little sight-seeing tour of the Alaskan coast … Continue reading

Zootzu, a Texas-based business that specializes in cotton clothing and costumes, started offering the coveted pants at festivals and renaissance faires. Their offerings included a range of colorful, comfortable and affordable Thai fisherman pants. Before we … Continue reading
photo by Matt Bradshaw “I can not tell you, there are not words to express the delight of interacting with, and watching (in awe) the Circus Freaks perform at last night’s Art and Coffee. Each one of you was engaging, each a different style of joy to speak with and behold. Russ with his youthfully charming, yet intelligent manner. Marie on her stilts, whose kindness and enthusiasm was rivaled only by her height. Monkey, who was humorous, yet a curious … Continue reading
We recently received a care package from the folks at the World Circus Federation. Under the patronage of Princess Stephanie of Monaco, the federation hosts World Circus Day, an event which promotes circus arts and culture around the world. Inside the very official-looking envelope was a thank you letter, a pair of certificates for both Creative Motion and the Circus Freaks for our involvement in the event and a copy of the special “World Circus Day” edition of Planet Circus … Continue reading
You know you’re loved when you get fan art for your birthday. Circus Freaks performer Garrett “Monkey” Jacks was gifted this amazing painting of himself in poi-spinning action by Creative Motion members Aeone and Corey.
Today Creative Motion officially becomes the most talented four year old I know.
