Library rules

Shhh!
Just kidding.

Books are friends, not food.
Be nice to the books and discs. We think that’s all we need to say on that. Right?

We are not archeologists.
Materials can be checked out for 2 weeks at a time. After that, so long as there isn’t a waitlist for that item, they can be checked back out. After 4 consecutive checkouts they must be returned. We miss them and want to make sure they’re still healthy and give them a big hug before sending them out again.

We are not mind readers.
Requests to check out materials should be made 1 week in advance so we are prepared to bring your requested items to an event. We’ll try to make it faster, up to but not including instantly, but please give us a chance to get it to you.

Books are not free.
We assess a $5 / year library membership fee. This isn’t to get rich, but to slowly add to the library and replace the inevitable casualty.

There is a purpose to the madness.
This is a circus themed library, mostly focused on training. Think Laurel and Hardy rather than Laurel K Hamilton.

Making a list and checking it twice.
We strive to keep a list of resources current and available to members, including what‘s checked out and whether there’s a waitlist or not.

Feed the librarian, just not after midnight.
This library runs thanks to volunteers trying to help organize and keep up with all the data and materials. Be kind. If there are challenges, we’ll work through them together as best as we can. Chocolate doesn’t hurt either.

This isn’t a democracy, either.
We’re passionate about the spread of knowledge and skills, and we want the library to continue for us all. That said, we retain the right to make changes to the rules if we need to, or even revoke memberships if we all can’t get along.
